Recognising Leaders Who Shape Grenada
Grenada, the Spice Isle of the Caribbean, is renowned for its organic cocoa and nutmeg heritage, high-calibre medical education, vibrant nautical tourism, and resilient community builders. If you have contributed years of leadership in business, health, education, cultural arts, or community empowerment, an Honorary Doctorate in Grenada offers an esteemed avenue to have your impact formally recognised by an academic Board of Studies.
What is an Honorary Doctorate in Grenada?
An honorary doctorate (H.Doc, or honoris causa) is a revered academic title conferred to recognize sustained professional distinction, agricultural innovation, healthcare leadership, or civic benevolence. Distinctions include Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) for governance and public administration; Doctor of Commerce (D.Com.) for enterprise and trade; Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) for medicine, agro-processing, and ecology; and Doctor of Humane Letters (DHL) for social advocacy.
Higher education in Grenada is globally recognised through St. George's University (SGU) and the T.A. Marryshow Community College (TAMCC). Conventional university honors are administered through closed internal committees.
Our facilitated process allows qualified Grenadians and international contributors to submit their career achievements for evaluation by an accredited partner university's Board of Studies. An honorary doctorate is an honorific recognition, not an earned PhD.

FAQs about Honorary Doctorate in Grenada
Can I use "Dr." before my name in Grenada after receiving an honorary doctorate?
An honorary doctorate is an honorific title. In social, civic, and professional settings, recipients often use "H.Doc" post-nominal or "Honorary Doctorate", and some use "Dr. (h.c.)". However, it must never be used to misrepresent an earned PhD or in statutory medical, clinical, or judicial positions.
Is an honorary doctorate equivalent to an earned PhD in Grenada?
No. A PhD is an academic research degree earned through extensive study and dissertation defense. An honorary doctorate recognises distinguished career achievement and societal contribution without coursework.
Do I need a university degree to qualify as an applicant from Grenada?
No. Demonstrable leadership, ethical standing, and long-standing community service are the primary criteria.
Which institutions grant honorary doctorates, and how is the award verified?
While Grenada hosts SGU, our facilitated programme evaluates candidates for accredited international partner universities with legitimate degree-granting charters.
How is this different from an internal university nomination?
Internal university awards are invitation-only. Our service allows accomplished individuals to submit their own portfolio directly for peer evaluation by an academic Board of Studies.
Will government bodies or employers treat it as an academic degree?
No. It is honoured as a title of esteem, not an academic qualification for regulated civil or professional employment.
Can Grenadians living abroad apply?
Yes. Grenadians residing throughout the diaspora in North America, the UK, Europe, or other Caribbean nations are welcome to apply.
What happens if my application is not approved?
If the Board of Studies does not approve your candidacy, you will not be required to pay the $700 board approval fee or the $700 award fee. The initial $95 fee covers administrative processing.
