Various types of citation style guides
Various universities and publications across the globe follow various kinds of citation styles and have their own criteria. Although there are many citation styles, we are aware of just a few like MLA style, APA, Chicago Manual of Style, IEEE etc because of their frequent use across the world. Let us know a few more styles which are being used in various fields of studies.
ACS Style: The style is developed by American Chemical Society (ACS) and is most commonly used for research papers in chemistry.
AIP Style: Commonly used in the field of Physics, the style is developed by American Institute of Physics (AIP). This is a numbered style with references being numbered at the end of the article.
ALWD system: Developed by Association of Legal Writing Directors (ALWD) to be used in court documents and is identical to Bluebook system.
AMA Style: This style is designed for manager for Business Writing and is developed by American Management Association.
AMS Style: This style is established by American Mathematical Society (AMS).
AP Style: The Associated Press (AP) style is used by most newspapers and magazines to make the writing style easy to be read by everyone.
APA Style: American Psychological Association (APA) style is used for social science study research papers. It specifies the style of headings, citations, list of tables and figures, formatting and all aspects of documentation.
APSA style: APSA style is similar to Chicago Manual of Style.
ASA style: American Sociological Association (ASA) style is widely used for research publications and specifies the punctuations, grammar and bibliography.
ASABE Styles: This style is widely used for research works in the area of agriculture, biochemistry and bio-engineering. This style is developed by American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.
ASME style: This is particularly used by mechanical engineers for research works and is developed by American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
Bluebook: Bluebook is used by legal research work or publications and is published by the Harvard Law Review.
IEEE Style: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Style is primarily used for research papers in the field of electronics engineering, computers and information technology engineering studies.
Apart from these there are also few more styles like National Library of Medicine style, Turabian style, Geological Society of America (GSA) style, Council of Science Editors (CSE) style etc.
